GENESIS turns the Pauluskirche into a living canvas. Ceiling-high projections and an original score dissolve the boundary between art and architecture.

This artistic homage to the origin of all being draws you into a world of striking projections, spherical soundscapes, luminous colour and flowing form. Every element is tuned to the others.

You walk in, look up and let go. No guided tour, no assigned seating, no right or wrong spot. Take a place on one of the pews or a floor cushion and find your own way into what is happening above you.

The Venue

St. Paulus in Trier stands in a tradition more than 1,300 years old: the parish was founded around 700, and the present Romanesque Revival church was consecrated in 1907 by Bishop Michael Felix Korum. Deconsecrated on 5 November 2017, it has been open to new uses ever since.

What to expect

360° projections

Our projectors turn every surface of the church into living, breathing art. Walls, columns and vaults all become part of the staging.

Music

A score written for GENESIS carries you through the 30 minutes. Music and image are matched to each other from beginning to end.

Family slots

Daily · 2 slots

The first two shows of each day are designed with families and small children in mind: calmer, more relaxed, with more room.

30 minutes to let go

An intense experience for every age, made for switching off, looking up and stepping into another world.

Every show runs 30 minutes. Please arrive at the entrance about 10 minutes before it starts. From 19 October shows run Friday to Sunday only.
