Linz – ENLIGHTENMENT Linz: Immersive Light Show at the Mariendom

Light, music and architecture in dialogue.

Linzer Mariendom · 30 January to 21 March 2027

Experience ENLIGHTENMENT, the immersive light show that turns the Linzer Mariendom into a stage of light and sound.

The Experience

ENLIGHTENMENT turns the Linzer Mariendom into a living space of light, colour, movement and sound. Monumental projections merge with the architecture of the largest church in Austria.

PROJEKTIL ENLIGHTENMENT at the Linzer Mariendom

Light, music and architecture enter into a dialogue: the vast dimensions of the nave, the slender columns and the coloured stained-glass windows become part of the staging themselves.

You walk into the cathedral, look up and let go. No guided tour, no assigned seating, no right or wrong spot. Take a seat on a pew, a chair or a floor cushion and find your own way into what is happening above you.

The Venue

The Mariendom in Linz is one of the most significant neo-Gothic church buildings in Austria and, with its imposing architecture, the largest church in the country. The foundation stone of this extraordinary project was laid in 1862, and after 62 years of construction it was solemnly consecrated in 1924. Today, the vast dimensions of the nave, the slender columns and the coloured stained-glass windows become part of ENLIGHTENMENT itself. Light, music and architecture enter into a dialogue and turn the Mariendom into an immersive stage on which the history and atmosphere of the place can be experienced in a new way.
